One day, while traveling through a mountainous country, I saw a flock of injured sheep crossing the road. My heart sank in horror, and I asked the guide why they were in such a state. He calmly replied, "They're sheared for wool, and they get injured — it's normal."
I cried the rest of the way to the hotel. My group thought I had lost my mind. But I kept replaying that phrase in my head — "it's normal" — and thinking about the suffering these creatures endure so that I can wear yet another beautiful wool sweater.
I didn't realize it then, but that was the very moment allOW was born.
